Privacy policy
Last updated: [date to confirm]
This policy explains what personal information MoveAssist collects, why we collect it, how we keep it safe and the choices you have. We only collect what we need to provide our services.
Who we are
MoveAssist is a managed movement and storage service based in Bath, Somerset, and is the controller of the personal information described in this policy.
You can contact us about anything in this policy by email at paulbharrison@mail.com or by phone on 07891 341414.
The information we collect
We collect the information you give us when you request a quote or make a booking: your name, phone number, email address, collection and delivery addresses, and details of the items and services involved.
For education bookings we may also hold a student’s name, school and boarding house, together with the contact details of authorised guardians.
How we use your information
We use your information to prepare quotes, arrange and carry out collections, storage and deliveries, take payment and keep you informed about your booking.
We rely on the need to perform our contract with you and, where relevant, our legitimate interest in running the service safely. We only send marketing, such as our newsletter, if you have opted in.
Item records and photographs
When we collect your belongings, we photograph each item and record its description, condition and storage location. These records protect you and us by showing exactly what we hold.
Photographs are of items, not people. If a photograph happens to include personal information, such as a name on a label, it is held as part of your record and protected in the same way.
Sharing with schools and guardians
For education bookings, we share item records and updates with schools and guardians only where a parent has authorised it, and only as far as is needed to arrange collections and deliveries.
We also share the minimum necessary information with carriers handling onward shipping and with providers who support our business, such as payment processing. We never sell your information.
How long we keep information
We keep your information for as long as we hold your belongings or provide a service to you.
After that, we keep booking and payment records for [six years] for legal and accounting reasons, and delete or anonymise everything else.
Your rights
You have the right to access your information, to ask us to correct or delete it, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to receive a copy in a portable format.
To exercise any of these rights, email us. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies and analytics
This website uses only the browser storage it needs to work, such as remembering that the opening animation has already played during your visit. Fonts, icons and the map on our contact page are loaded from third-party services, and the embedded Google Map may set its own cookies.
[If analytics are added before launch, describe the provider, the cookies used and how to opt out here.]
Contacting us about privacy
If you have a question about privacy or would like to exercise your rights, email paulbharrison@mail.com with ‘Privacy’ in the subject line.
We will acknowledge your request promptly and respond in full within one month.
